How has SMPS helped you in your career?<\/strong>
\nHow hasn\u2019t SMPS helped me in my career? From knowledge gained through Lunchtime Learning Labs and the Marketing Handbook,<\/em> to relationships built through attending events and conferences, SMPS has added significantly to my knowledge of and experience in the A\/E\/C industry. Coming from a background in a completely different industry, I needed a resource to help me catch up on anything from RFP compliance to writing a communications plan to ghost-writing articles for project managers. With SMPS\u2014and specifically the CPSM community\u2014I know I can reach out to a like-minded group of individuals with any questions and find the answer quickly, most likely along with a list of suggested additional resources!<\/div>\n

Tell us something we would be surprised to learn about you: <\/strong>
\nI\u2019m addicted to painting my nails. I always have a fresh manicure and feel incomplete without one! My nail art has gotten ridiculous lately\u2014I even painted traffic signals at the request of a project manager.<\/div>\n
As a CPSM, how has certification benefitted you? <\/strong>
\nI credit what I learned through the CPSM program with my career advancement. Studying for the CPSM exam really broadened my knowledge beyond my day-to-day activities. In addition to proposals, I learned more about market research, promotional activities, business development, marketing planning, and management. I\u2019ve been able to hold my own in meetings with senior leadership and really help show the value of marketing to people across my firm. My CPSM helped me feel confident enough to apply for a regional marketing manager position, which I started on November 9. I wouldn\u2019t have felt prepared for the position without the knowledge I\u2019ve gained through studying and the connections I\u2019ve made through the program. Now I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll be looking to the CPSM online community for advice on taking over leadership of an existing team!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
