\nShare some news with us:<\/strong> I was recently selected to serve on the 2017-18 SMPS Certification Committee. I have served on the SMPS New Mexico board for four years, and now I am excited to volunteer at the national level.<\/p>\n

How has SMPS helped you in your career?<\/strong> SMPS has been instrumental to my success as a marketer. The educational resources that SMPS offers has increased my knowledge of the marketing and business development roles in the A\/E\/C industries. This knowledge has given me the tools to help my firm win more work, allowing me to advance my career from a marketing assistant to marketing coordinator, and now currently as a marketing manager.<\/p>\n

Tell us something we\u2019d be surprised to learn about you.<\/strong> I had a short-lived (one television commercial) hand modeling career.<\/p>\n

Tell us about a recent work day: <\/strong>I completed a proposal and worked on five client funding applications.<\/p>\n

As a CPSM, how has certification benefitted you? <\/strong>The CPSM certification has benefitted me in several ways. Through studying for the exam and attending R2C<\/a>, the CPSM immersion course, I have gained a better understanding of the six domains of practice and how I can apply some of the best practices within my own organization. The recognition I have received from my colleagues has also been wonderful. The certification has identified me as an expert in my field, and I am proud and excited to now be able to mentor other marketing staff members on their path to becoming certified.<\/p>\n
