Young, president of SMPS Twin Cities, was honored at\u00a0<a title=\"Build Business\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buildbusiness.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Build Business<\/a>, the SMPS annual conference, on Thursday, August 11, 2016, during The Society Gala.<\/p>\n<p>The Chapter President of the Year Award recognizes an SMPS chapter president who has demonstrated excellence in leadership while serving the chapter and its members. All nominations must be made by a current SMPS member.<\/p>\n<p>Since joining\u00a0<a title=\"SMPS Twin Cities\" href=\"http:\/\/smps-tc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SMPS Twin Cities<\/a>\u00a0in 2007, Young has been an active member, holding several leadership roles from education co-chair to secretary\/treasurer. Under her guidance and direction as president, SMPS Twin Cities has started a new member breakfast with a 90 percent attendance rate, promoted local organizations to boost the chapter\u2019s visibility, and increased the chapter\u2019s LinkedIn followers and Twitter impressions by more than 250 percent. In addition, they\u2019ve debuted five new chapter initiatives and grown membership by 12 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Young\u2019s dedication to the chapter and SMPS goes even further. She has mentored board members, written letters of support to volunteers\u2019 supervisors, and sent handwritten notes to new members. According to one of her nominators, she has a knack for getting things done\u2014whether it\u2019s exceeding membership goals, improving financial stability, or increasing the chapter\u2019s visibility.
