SMPS is pleased to announce that Shannon Brush, CPSM, LEED AP, has been honored with the 2024 Catalyst Business Developer of the Year Award<\/a>. Shannon, a member of SMPS Seattle, accepted her award during Amplify A|E|C, the Society\u2019s annual conference, on July 25, 2024, in Salt Lake City, UT.<\/p>

Shannon, an associate principal at Hargis Engineers, becomes the first-ever SMPS Catalyst Business Developer of the Year. This SMPS award recognizes an outstanding business developer with 11+ years of experience.<\/p>

At Hargis Engineers, Shannon has contributed to the strategic growth of her firm. Since joining Hargis Engineers in 2002, she has been instrumental in establishing marketing and business development systems, fostering collaborative technologies, and developing her professional network. Her unwavering commitment has contributed to the firm\u2019s growth \u2014 from three to six disciplines and a team expansion from 72 to 200 employees, alongside a sustained retention rate for staff and clients.<\/p>

As an advocate for the profession and a passionate ambassador for her firm, she actively engages with SMPS and client-facing associations. Her contributions include serving on various committees for organizations such as DBIA NW, NAIOP Washington, and A4LE Washington, where she also served on A4LE\u2019s five-year executive track. Recognizing the importance of shared knowledge, Shannon has initiated joint presentations that amplify the voices of marketing and business development professionals and has shared her insights through mentoring programs, speaking engagements, and CPSM study sessions.<\/p>

As a liaison for various outside organizations, Shannon contributes to the firm\u2019s community stewardship programs. She partners with team members to support the work of organizations like Rainier Scholars and Evans Scholars who serve first-generation college students, and the ACE Mentor Program of Washington to raise awareness of the A\/E\/C industry. These efforts, coupled with an internal internship program, have successfully translated into 36 full-time positions.<\/p>

Shannon is equally committed to fostering a collaborative environment with firms throughout the industry. Together with her senior leadership team, she actively identifies opportunities to engage with industry peers in joint project pursuits aimed at collective growth. Her contributions have included crafting statements of qualifications and marketing assets that serve shared objectives.<\/p>

In her own words, \u201cBusiness development is a team effort, and I have been blessed to be a part of a team \u2013 a community \u2013 that embraces my desire to contribute.\u201d<\/p>
